On stepped siena marble bases.

  • Provenance: Footnote:
    The Medici Vase is a monumental marble bell-shaped krater created in Athens in the second half of the 1st century C.E. The vase was rediscovered in the 16th century and appeared in the 1598 inventory of the Villa Medici, Rome. It is now in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
  • Dimensions: overall height 22 3/4in (58cm); width 9 3/4 (25cm); depth 9 3/4in (25cm)
  • Condition: Bronze with a heavy, dark brown patina overall. Probably repatinated. General marks, scratches, scuffs, rubbing and wear commensurate with age. Veneered base with old patinated chips and losses mostly to extremities.
