First Time Bidders
Can I view the items in person?
Before the auction we are open to the public for preview. These dates and times will be published on our website. If you are unable to attend on these dates, we are open by appointment the week prior to the auction. Once you arrive, walk through the gallery and feel free to thoroughly examine the items in the sale. Our staff is available to answer questions you may have. You will need to obtain a bidder paddle prior to the auction, please see client services to assist you in this process. Please note, if you do not have a purchase history with our company, you may be required to leave a valid credit card number and a refundable deposit to bid.
What if I am unable to preview in person or would like more information?
If you are interested in a particular lot and would like a condition report or additional images please email firstname.lastname@example.org. To speak to a specialist, please call (213) 748-8008. The presale estimates printed in the catalog or online refer to the range in which similar items usually sell for at auction. The auctioneer will generally open the bidding at around half the low estimate.
How much will I have to pay?
Be sure to account for the buyer’s premium and other costs that may apply to you such as sales tax, online buyer’s premium, and shipping and handling.
When will my lot come up?
We start the auction with lot 1 and sell the lots in numerical order at roughly 60-100 lots per hour. If you are unable to be in attendance when your lot comes up, we offer absentee, online and telephone bidding. Telephone bidding is available for lots with a low estimate in excess of $1000. Phone lines book up fast, so please plan accordingly.
When do I pick up or how do I get my purchases shipped to me?
All items must be paid for and collected no later than 3 days after the auction. We do not have in-house shipping services, however, we can provide you with a local shipper who will be able to assist you.
