Xinjiang, China
Stony-Iron, Pallasite (main group)
Discovery: 2000

In the year 2000, hikers walking in the desert recovered a 1003 kg meteorite specimen near Fukang, China. Formed in the mantle of a protoplanet and representing roughly 1% of all known meteorites, Pallasites are now considered amongst the rarest in the world and also the most alluring.

Cut along two edges, this cabinet specimen Fukang part slice displays olivine crystals up to 1 inch in diameter embedded in an etched Iron matrix and a safe-handling acrylic case which may be open for care, curation and research.

weighing 85 g; measuring 4.25 x 2.25 x 1/16 in (107.95 x 57.15 x 1.59 mm)
