A group of fourteen Meissen porcelain plates
late 19th century

Underglaze blue crossed swords, comprising two oval serving dishes and twelve plates.

  • Dimensions: oval platter length 10 3/4in (27cm); small plate diameter 8in (20cm)
  • Condition: Five plates have blue ground, two plates are yellow ground, four plates have dark pink ground, one light purple ground. Overall with some light wear from use, including some scattered knife marks, mild losses to decoration and gilding and some stacking wear. Some with pinprick dimples to the glaze. One pink plate with hairline at rim, extending approximately 1in. One blue plate with chip to rim. Yellow serving bowl with approximately 3in hairline extending from the rim with some corresponding losses along the line at reverse. No notable fluorescence under UV light.
