The 12in square brass dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, having a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, inscribed Brounker Watts LONDON to the matte center, the twin train movement with five ringed pillars, striking on a bell.

    Footnote: Brounker Watts was apprenticed to Joseph Knibb from 1684 to 1691. He was Free of the Clockmakers' Company in 1693 and subsequently worked on Fleet Street. Watts died in 1719.

  • Condition: The case in overall good condition. Scattered old small repairs and a few small losses to veneer. Slight warp to door. General marks, nicks, scratches and wear. With a good nutty / chestnut color to timber. Door slightly faded. Slight water spotting to base. The square brass dial with small areas of loss of silvering to the chapter ring. Heavier at VI. Currently maintining power and striking correctly although the bell sounds dull and is probably a replacement. The seatboard with numerous holes at either end. Matching numerous holes in the cheeks now below 1/4in shims. With pendulum, weights, crank and case key,
