A Chinese blue and white porcelain brush pot
probably Transitional/Kangxi period

Depicting a narrative scene reversed by a large reserve of cranes and pine, the slightly concave underside centered by a small recessed well and the traces of old suzhou numerals/trad jargon written upon the surrounding unglazed biscuit.

    Sold The Collection of Arne Schlesch, Sotheby's, New York, 5 April 2000, lot 50.
  • Dimensions: height 7in (18cm); diameter 7 3/4in (20cm)
  • Condition: General marks, chips, scratches, cracks, rubbing, wear, glazing and firing flaws. Old scattered chips as visible in catalogue photo. With an old curved crack running down from rim as visible in catalogue photo. Not examined under UV light. Possible restoration.
