Provenance: Likely supplied to the Imperial Garde-Meuble circa 1810. The chair inscribed
PT 3307 transferred to the Petit Trianon, Versailles after 1835. The other probably transferred to the Palais de Strasbourg.

This model of the chair is first listed in the Petit Trianon in the 1839 inventory in the
salon des aides de camp on the ground floor under the number 3307:
4 chaises acajou, pieds à balustre, couvertes en cannetallé vert, lézarde en soie assortie 20, soit 80 (Francs). They are not listed in the 1835 inventory indicating they were probably transferred there subsequently from the Imperial Garde-Meuble.

In overall good, restored condition. Structurally sound. General marks, scratches rubbing and wear commensurate with age. With an overall deep reddish brown color to timber. A matched pair as stated. Slight variations to dimensions. Later mounts. Some scattered losses to mounts. Undersides resupported. Variation to support blocks. With back leg to one patched and rebuilt. Restorations to legs at joints of seatrails. One with one front leg possibly replaced. Variations to stencils, as stated. Example stenciled G with shadow of old label to rail.
